Awards

The Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society recognizes outstanding volunteers and their significant achievements by the presentation of a number of awards. The notification of the actual Awardees will be on the Conference Banquet of SMC 2016. For further information about SMC awards click here.

 

Best Paper Awards

 

Franklin V. Taylor Memorial Award

IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society will present the “Franklin V. Taylor Memorial Award” for the best oral presentation and paper at SMC 2016. An achievement Plaque and honorarium award will be given. The honorarium is split equally among multiple coauthors who also each receive Plaque on the Conference Banquet at SMC 2016. The Winner will be announced on the Conference Banquet.


Eligibility
Presentation by the author of an accepted paper at the annual SMC Society conference.

Best Student Paper Award

IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society will present the “IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Best Student Paper Award” to recognize the best oral presentation and paper by a student at SMC 2016. An achievement Plaque and honorarium award will be given. The honorarium is split equally among multiple student coauthors who also each receive a Plaque on the Conference Banquet at SMC 2016.

The eligibility criteria for the competition are:

  •  

 

  • Five semi-finalists will be selected from all the student papers submitted and accepted to SMC 2016.
  • One student author of each of the five semi-finalist papers is required to attend the conference and present their paper in a special Best Student Paper award session.
  • A panel of judges at the special Best Student Paper award session will judge each paper on its technical quality, presentation quality, and the presenting student’s ability to communicate and respond to questions concerning the topic of the paper.
  • The presenting student must be the first author and a full-time student at the time of submission
  • The presenting student is the first or second author of the paper. Also, only a student author can present the paper; no non-student authors are allowed to do so.
  • The Winner will be announced on the Conference Banquet.
